The Sheriff Foundation here will be shortly beginning a programme of imparting Deeniyath (theology) to modern graduates and modern sciences to those who have finished Alim course from madrassas.

The project, first of its kind, will be conducted by Tipu Sultan Advanced Study and Research Centre which is coming up at Srirangapatna, 15 kms north of Mysore. According to Centre’s Secretary General Kamaruddin Abdur Rahman, the centre will begin with a one-year post-graduate diploma in Islamic Studies and Heritage. Other courses to be included will be Information Technology, Business Management, Education Technology and Mass Communication etc. The course for those who have completed Alim course will be for a period of 12 months while the graduates willing to join the Deeniyath course will be doing an 18-month course.

The Centre will be a residential institution with annual intake of 20 students in each of the two courses with free board and lodging facilities and a monthly internship of Rs. 1000.
